25/08/10: Thanks for helping out
ICS would like to thank Carolina and Claudia for volunteering with us last week.
21/08/10: Peter has been adopted.
Eva and Igor from the Czech Republic are the proud adoptive parents of Peter, one of our 72 Aldabra giant tortoises on Desroches.
The story begins with the tagging on June 14, 2010 of a green turtle (Chelonia mydas) on Desroches Island. The turtle was spotted by Tony Jupiter, ICS assistant Conservation Officer, at 08:45 on the eastern part of the island near the lighthouse. Much to Tony’s surprise she emerged at low tide, extremely unusual for a green turtle given Tony’s 10 years of experience in the field.
11/08/10: The ICS Conservation Team on Desroches
In June 2009, the Island Conservation Society (ICS) in collaboration with Desroches Island Lodge (DIL) and the Island Development Company (IDC) set up a Conservation Centre on Desroches. A year on and a new, all Seychellois, ICS team has taken over the management of conservation activities on the island.
